About the Exhibition

Ryota Aoki has been attracted us by producing the potteries which matches “today”. He returns for a second time to KNAM Gallery with the brand new potteries which produced in his new wood-fired oven. This new series is Aoki’s new attempt to have a dialogue between fire and him. He has been working on cray and glaze, and finally he broke new grand with fire for this time.


Message

I have got new wood-fired oven this spring.
I have longed for producing Shino and Kiseto of Momoyama.
This oven helped me to produce satisfactory bowls of Shino and Kiseto.
I hope you enjoy the new world of Ryota Aoki.


Profile

Ryota AOKI

Ryota Aoki was born in Toyama in 1978. He is working in a studio in Toki, Gifu. He tests approximately 15,000 kinds of glazes and uses gold, silver, and platinum which are not usually employed to produce potteries. His solo exhibitions taken place inside and outside Japan, and he joins some art fairs of contemporary art. Furthermore, he collaborates some other artists to tell the greatness of potteries. He takes place an event that communicate and study each other for younger potters and students in summer.
