About the Exhibition

Chiyu Uemae is known as one of the founding members of the Gutai Art Association. Uemae showed his work at the first Gutai Exhibition and every subsequent exhibition thereafter, remaining with the group until its dissolution.

His distinctively gentle brushstrokes continue to fascinate viewers. Uemae's mature style, polished over many decades of ceaceless effort, is nothing short of extraordinary. It is remarkable that in every work, his careful compositions which are comprised of many patterns, are vividly appealing to every generation.

KaNAM gallery is pleased to present Chiyu Uemae's approximately 30 works ranging from his latest prints to rare original pieces.
