The second exhibition room will feature works that express the theme of physicality.
Here we will focus on physical expression and introduce how sports that compete in speed and strength are expressed through the filter of art.
The centerpiece of the exhibition is the "Olympic Series" by Ay-O, a New York-based artist with the label FLUXUS, which depicts various Olympic sports. Enjoy the dynamic compositions and vibrant colors.
The exhibition also features a video entitled "OPEN SCORE," an experimental work by Robert Rauschenberg from his time as a member of the group "EAT," which aimed to use science to create artistic expression. This work, born from the unique idea of combining tennis and art, may be the best example of the exhibition's theme of "connecting and expanding."
The exhibition title "Connecting and Expanding" can also be seen in human relationships.
Andy Warhol and Jean-Michel Basquiat, two of the most important contemporary American artists, created a total of 160 works together over the two years from 1984 to 1985. In September 1985, a joint exhibition by the two artists, "Warhol and Basquiat: Paintings," was held at a gallery in Soho, and portraits of the two artists dressed as boxers were used on the exhibition promotional poster. The photographs were taken by renowned portrait photographer Michael Halsband, and you can see the photographs of the two artists here.
