On the last Saturday of June, six children from Karuizawa, ranging from second to fourth grade, came to assemble a different color (blue-gray) of the Fuller Dome, which is currently on display at the "Irreplaceable Things: Earth, Landscape, Environment" exhibition! While some of the children were attempting it for the second time, the oldest was a fourth-grader. It took about two hours. The adults were overwhelmed by the children's leadership throughout, and together they successfully completed the project. ✨ This is a classic spherical structure invented by R. Buckminster Fuller. Its concept of "easy construction, lightweight, and able to cover large areas" led to its widespread use in dome stadiums today. ⁡The dome that suddenly appeared in the museum shop space this time was a sample of a 3D puzzle for kids, available for purchase at our museum (same as the one on display on the second floor, white, 12.760 yen including tax). Why not try building one for your summer vacation research project or play with your family? ⁡The exhibition on the second floor, including this piece, can be enjoyed by people of all ages, so please come and visit us this summer! We look forward to seeing you in Karuizawa!
