Why not spend the start of the new year relaxing at the museum? This is our annual New Year's workshop. We will celebrate the beginning of the year by drawing pictures and characters on plain folding fans, and by doing calligraphy (and drawing).
No prior registration is required, and you can join at any time during the event.

Happy New Year.
The annual New Year's Art Workshop (fan painting and calligraphy competition) was held from January 1nd (Sun) to 2th (Tue).
The first day of the workshop in Karuizawa was particularly cold, with temperatures reaching -13°C in the morning.
There were many participants, both local and from outside the prefecture.
As this year is the year of the tiger, the yellow paint ran out, and by the afternoon of the final day, the 60 or so fans that had been prepared were all gone.
All sold out.
Compared to last year, we had twice as many participants.
