In order to prevent the spread of the COVID-3 virus, the "Let's Try Paper Cutting" workshop, which was postponed from March 14th, will be held on Saturday, June 6th.
In this workshop, we will invite Mr. Katsuki Tanaka from the paper cutting studio "Katsu" to teach us how to make authentic paper cutting.
Reservations are required and each session is limited to 10 people. The museum shop has a wide selection of Tanaka's works on display, from small items such as bookmarks to large works. You can't really appreciate the amazing technique of his paper cutting unless you see the real thing.

This is a rare opportunity to hear the behind-the-scenes stories of the production. Only participants can enjoy the spectacle of what kind of bookmark they will make!
If you would like to participate, please contact the museum. Reservations will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis from Tuesday, June 6nd.

[Workshop To be Hold, on June 13th (sat)]
Due to the prevention of COVID-19 (Coronavirus Disease 2019) Karuizawa New Art Museum had postponed the workshop "Challenge to the Paper-Cut Art" to be held on March 14th, we've decided newly to hold the workshop on coming June 13th !
In this workshop inviting Mr. Katsuki Tanaka, the organizer of Atelier for Paper-cut Art,
we are going to learn to carve some motifs on papers with him to make book marks. We are supposed to use a Special cutter for this occasion but don't worry!
Mr.Tanaka 'll show you his works exhibit currently in the museum shop before the workshop and then teach you how to use the cutter sufficiently. The different work shop menu is prepared for small children who are difficult to use the tool, to offer a fun time simultaneously.
Dear participants
・Please take your temperature at home on that day and if you feel sick or if you have a slight fever we kindly ask you to refrain from taking part in the workshop.
・We kindly ask you to use the alcohol antiseptic solution equipped at our entrance and to wear a mask.

REPORT
The workshop was held on Saturday, June 6th, and we were able to welcome a small group of energetic children from Karuizawa Town, from regular visitors to first graders and high school freshmen. The workshop started with viewing the works of Professor Tanaka Katsuki. Designed animals and plants, and intricately colored backgrounds handmade by the professor. We listened to the world of paper cutting, in which layers of paper are layered to create a magnificent worldview. Then, we worked with cutters, which we were not used to. The sight of the participants working hard in the short hour and a half, and their smiles at the end, brought energy and vitality to the museum. Now, the state of emergency to prevent the spread of COVID-2 has been lifted nationwide, but with concerns over a second and third wave, workshops with large numbers of people may increase the risk of infection, so we will have to continue to be cautious for a while longer. It is precisely at such times that we would like to continue to plan workshops while monitoring the situation, so that everyone can come and visit us for a little respite. We hope that you will be able to spend some time relaxing at Karuizawa New Art Museum.
