Two years have passed since Jean-Michel Othoniel's works became part of the Karuizawa New Art Museum's collection. The giant necklace-shaped and heart-shaped objects that are permanently exhibited at KaNAM blend perfectly into the landscape. However, there is still a mysterious side to the knotted works. So, to deepen your understanding of these works, why not try making a miniature Othoniel knotted object? We have an easy-to-make kit ready for you.

REPORT
Karuizawa New Art Museum held a workshop to make Jean-Michel Othoniel's Musubime straps for two days on Saturday and Sunday during the Obon holiday. Despite the fact that the entire town of Karuizawa is very crowded during the tourist season, many local elementary school students and people living nearby participated. Many people from Nagano Prefecture and the Kanto, Koshinetsu and other areas who are visiting Karuizawa for the summer vacation also participated. In the workshop, participants experienced how the real thing is made by threading beads onto a hard needle and struggling to actually make knots. We hope that this will inspire your interest in art and make you enjoy making and watching. Please join us again! We are planning some fun events for September as well, so please look forward to it!
