Special exhibition celebrating the museum's 10th anniversary: Various Lives - Life and Death, Joy and Sorrow

Overview

Karuizawa New Art Museum is celebrating its 10th anniversary and will be holding a special commemorative exhibition.
The idea for this special exhibition was inspired by an encounter with the Important Cultural Property of Japan, the picture scroll "Shihon Jakushoku Shui Kotokuden," which depicts the latter half of the life of the monk Honen Shonin. The "life and death" depicted in the scroll is a fundamental theme that can be understood by anyone.
The exhibition is structured so that visitors can encounter a variety of stories as they wander through six exhibition rooms.
Please take your time to enjoy the works of various artists, regardless of genre or year of production.
From the moment we are born, we experience many joys and sorrows, and then we pass away. I hope that you will enjoy the artwork and let it stir your thoughts.
