"Philip Colbert Exhibition" - Journey to the Lobster Planet

Overview

This exhibition will be the first large-scale exhibition of British artist Philip Colbert (born 1979) in Japan.
Colbert has created a unique worldview with his alter-ego, a cartoon character called "Lobster," and a sophisticated pop aesthetic, which has earned him fans around the world. His fields of activity are not limited to painting and sculpture, but also include digital works, fashion, music, furniture, and performance art. His work is playful and pop in style, and actively combines contemporary digital culture with iconography from art history to delve into the relationship with history.
This proves that art can be updated by reinterpreting famous artworks and making its mark on art history. Hiding behind a pop, colorful, and humorous veil, Colbert challenges the limits of self-expression in an over-consumerist society. His cutting-edge digital works, such as his unique metaverse city "Lobsterpolis" and NFTs, show his passionate pursuit of humanity's rebirth into a more digital-oriented era and the role of art in such an era.

Don't miss this opportunity to see cutting-edge, colorful exhibits that you won't find anywhere else in the world.
