Ronald Ventura, Crossroad to Nowhere, 2015

I would like to introduce here Crossroad to Nowhere, 2015.

Is it a medieval knight or a wounded soldier in a modern war zone based on the large vehicle in the background? Floating in front of and behind the central figure is a black-headed bird angel and a multi-headed monster reminiscent of Cerberus or the eight-headed serpent from Japanese mythology. The figure, oozing blood, seems to be heading for death.
The painting is housed in a shiny black resin frame, but if you take a closer look at the frame, you will see that it is also decorated with relief patterns of skeletons and monkey faces, which add to the horror and gravity of the work.
The skeletons are both a symbol of death and a way of immortality, and Ventura says this contradiction is wonderful. Ventura said that it is important to be a bridge between one’s own culture and the country where the work is shown.
