About the Exhibition

Uchida is a creator who makes works with ice candies and internal capsule medicines as motifs, using mainly glass material and casting technique. In his series [ cool it ] , he expresses the natural environment being lost day by day through global warming, with white polar bears melting into popsicles. At the same time expressing the pop iconic animal characters being overused in the mass consumption society, and expressing the loving animals’ two bilateral character. Also in his series [ medicine ], Uchida expresses human beings addictively enjoying the mass consumption society as a figure of complete metaphor concentrated in internal medicine capsules. The pop colorfulness or the works invites the viewers even further to the depth of consumerism. This series also give us the feeling of coexisting favorableness and poisonous in dual structure.
