About the Exhibition

"I am a potter - I commit my life with pottery."
"I want to make pottery works that go along with the present time."
Aoki challenges himself to making the pottery for the new generations, which everyone pursuits the newest idea. Over the tens of thousands times of research about the effects on glazes on ceramics, Aoki developed his original technique to mix glaze by using gold, silver and platinum, those which are not usually used in pottery. With his keen aesthetic sense, Aoki accomplished in producing exquisite pottery works shimmering in the way that no one has ever seen before.

KaNAM gallery is pleased to present Aoki's tableware works such as plates, cups, pitchers, and vases carefully blend both into practicality and the very original, fashionable design. Approximately 200 of his works will be shown at gallery2.

Aoki has become a leader of a new generation of ceramicists -"potters" as he calls-, having helped establish Ikeyan, a group of young potters to exchange the knowledge and stimulate each other. Also established "Ikeyan★web" and "Potter", the social network service for invigorating the local market of pottery.
